Tourage states cooperation and collaboration important for developing senior tourism

Project “Tourage – Developing Senior tourism in remote EU regions” organized its 2nd Annual Conference, which was held on May 21st, hosted by Regional Governor of Burgas, in Bulgaria. All the tourism stakeholders and experts taken part in the conference were greeted by Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism Mr.Ivo Marinov, Governor of Burgas District Mr.Konstantin Grebenarov and Deputy Mayor of Burgas Municipality Ms Yordanka Ananieva. Officials emphasized the importance of experience exchange, combination of tourism services to make offers abundant, pointing out the importance of good infrastructure and transport system to develop tourism successfully.

The conference concluded with an idea that cooperation and collaboration between stakeholders, local institutions and enterprenuers are one of the core methods to develop senior tourism succesfully in regions. 

This time the Tourage Annual conference was organized to discuss product development and marketing for senior tourism. Presentations held in parallel thematic sessions approved the need for cooperation between institutions. Seniors should be involved when developing senior tourism and research about this target group profile should be done to ensure appropriate and workable offer.

During the conference also results of survey on the needs and habits of senior travelers in remote regions were presented. When modeling special tourism offers for senior tourism, should be reminded several features which are common for this target group – seniors prefer high quality service, they travel together with family or friends, safety issue is important and mostly seniors are interested in nature and historical heritage avoiding physical activities.

Presentations held in conference opening session and thematic sessions are uploaded to the project`s homepage www.tourage.eu to be available for stakeholders in tourism and the public who want to learn more about senior tourism as a tool for dealing with depopulation, unemployment and other economical regression issues.
