Annual conference in Granada

Demographic Change and ageing can bring many opportunities to the regions. Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the Europe and relatively remote regions have both a lot of unexploited and unknown development potential in this regard. To seek most reliable and successful solutions for transforming societies ageing to the economical growth and regional development, project “TOURAGE - Developing Senior Tourism in Remote Region” partners from 12 different countries invites all the stakeholders to the project first Annual Conference, which will be held on September 25 in Granada, Spain. 

The overall objective of the project “TOURAGE” is to enhance regional economy by the means of senior tourism development and to support active and healthy ageing. The issues raised in the conference are highly topical as the year 2012 is the European Year for Active Ageing.

During the Annual Conference participants will have the possibility to get acquainted with the activities concerning European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012, senior tourism promotion and different innovative solutions for seniors and senior tourism from 10 different countries - Bulgaria, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Slovak Republic and Spain.

The event will be hosted by the County Council of Granada. The conference offers an opportunity to share project results as well as to introduce good practices on senior tourism that have been identified in the partner regions and in Spain at a national level. In addition, the conference discusses senior tourism’s role in promoting economic development and employment especially in rural areas.
