Warmia Mazury Senior Games 2014

Registration for the international competition Warmia Mazury Senior Games 2014, which will stretch from 28 to 31 August 2014 has started. To participate in the competitions we are inviting everyone - the only condition for participation in the event is age - turned 45 (individual disciplines) or 40 (team sports).

The number of disciplines in this year's event is increased to 14. In Olsztyn, there are swimming, bridge, indoor volleyball and parachuting. Iława will host beach volleyball, tennis and sailing, while badminton will be held in Orneta. In Ostróda we will meet football and canoeing and in Pasłęk a golf tournament will be held. Lidzbark Warmiński will host table tennis and athletes. Finally, in Nidzica athletes will compete in weightlifting.

- We want Warmia and Mazury to become a place associated with sports for the mature, so we are very open to organize such events – says Jacek Protas, Marshal of Warmia and Mazury. - We have the necessary infrastructure and we are getting more experienced in organizing such events. It is also a great way for the international promotion of our region. The project of Warmia Mazury Senior Games is not only a sports rivalry, but also includes cultural, social and scientific events.

The promoters who are involved in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, the spirit of sportsmanship and competition will urge to start in the individual disciplines. Most of them are the athletes who in the past had performed in the most important competitions. There are also people who continue to take part in competitions for seniors actively. In the Olympics Games took part Ryszard Szparak (Moscow 1980), who is currently promoting a track and field, Leszek Kucharski (Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992) - table tennis, and Tomasz Rumszewicz (Montreal 1976)- sailing or representatives in volleyball Marek Kwieciński i Piotr Koczan – they are promoters of indoor volleyball and beach volleyball.

For the first time players from generation 45 + met in Warmia and Mazury in 2012. To Olsztyn, Iława, and Orneta came almost 1200 athletes from 13 countries around the world: Russia, the Netherlands, the USA, Spain, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania and Poland of course. Professionals and amateurs competed for medals and prestige in 11 disciplines.
